Amazon

In 2018 the sponsorship team landed a deal with Amazon and it was one of the largest deals the company has ever made. Our design team was tasked with creating a social campaign for the Amazon website and IRONMAN’s website and social channels that would link to a live landing page on Amazon’s site with nutrition items that a triathlete would be interested in. We were given some, but not much lifestyle imagery from our partners and since the campaign was a quick turn around the partnership team had not even provided our creative team with copy to use on our initial concepts.

After doing my own bit of research on Amazon I realized that their content is mostly product image, minimal copy, and a flat color background. This approach seemed fitting since the lifestyle photography was lacking for most of the partners. I also was thinking of the project from a consumers angle, being an Amazon prime member I understand the appeals of shopping online. Finding a box on your doorstep when you come home with a new product you’ve been dying to try is exciting. I started with that idea and started collecting product images. The images of the Amazon boxes themselves already tells me what this campaign is related to shopping online. Next step was to add the product images in from our nutrition partners. After tweaking the sizes and layering them all in I needed tagline. Swim, Bike, Run is the first thing that comes to mind with triathlon so why not start there; but we are talking about online shopping here so Swim, Bike, SHIP. Not only was our team impressed with my choice of words but the Amazon team also approved and ultimately gave our team the responsibility of handing the creative for the launch. Since my concept was the most fitting I have been nominated the lead designer on the campaign that will be continued through the end of the year. This was a really exciting opportunity and I am looking forward to building more content!
